I discovered polymer clay in the summer of 2005, and my life hasn't been the same since then! This stuff is sooo addictive, and there have been many nights when I haven't been able to go to sleep because of some little critter in my head that wants to be created. I have always loved any type of art, but this is the first medium that has really captured my interest, and taken over my world! I am especially drawn to fantasy art, and I feel that there is a magical little world all around us, that very few have the gift to see, so I have always longed to share that vision with others. I used to draw faeries with color pencil, but never could seem to get my own ideas to appear on the paper in front of me no matter how hard I tried, and I would look to other artists for inspiration.
Since I discovered clay, I have been able to create many of the little critters that I just couldn't seem to get on paper with the color pencils, and I am finally able to share my own designs with the world. What's even better, is actually being able to see them in 3d form, and pick them up to hold them! I still have a long way to go, but I am enjoying learning more about the clay with each critter I create, and trying new techniques. I am a self taught artist, and everything I have learned so far has been from books I purchased online, or in craft stores, but I do want to take some classes as well. While the dragons are my favorite thing to create, I REALLY want to learn to make faeries next! I have recently joined a wonderful group, BPCAG, and met some other amazing artists in this medium. I hope to learn a lot within this fantastic community, and perhaps I will be able to create some faeries soon with their help! You can check out the group here, [link] , and please feel free to join us if you sculpt or are interested in learning to!
Sometimes, I feel overwhelmed because I have so many ideas...and with all these little critters that want to be created...my hands just can't keep up! It is my desire to create whimsical little critters that will not only bring smiles and joy, but will also spread Love & Light to those who see them. I would love to inspire the world and allow others to see the beauty and magic that I know is all around us!
I am a huge fan of Amy Brown, Brian Froud, and Jessica Galbreth, just to name a few, and it is my dream to take my dragons to Faery-Con someday and actually meet some of these wonderful artists in person. I have recently started my own business, and I'm beginning to sell a few of my creatures online.
I hope to meet other artists here, and make a few friends with similar interests to chat with, so please feel free to send me a message anytime! Thanks for taking the time to learn a little about me! Please take a moment to browse through my gallery, and your comments are always welcome!
Blessings of Love & Light,
Tammy Montgomery
